It’s 2001 – the year in which the towers will fall. Julia is fifteen and for her, only two things matter: Hip-hop and the solidarity within her “crew”, a group of youngsters who belong to the so-called “residual waste” at school. They are the ones left behind, outsiders who no one believes have a future. In the Austrian valley, overrun by tourism but also deeply backwoods, everything seems to be going as usual. But one day, one of the teachers forces Julia's class to take part in a political experiment - and sets off an avalanche of fateful events...
Loosely based on Angela Lehner's novel of the same name, this film tells a highly original yet exciting and truly entertaining story about friendship, youthful rebellion and the big world on a small scale, shortly before 9/11 changes everything: full of self-irony and humour, with lots of cool music and an unmistakable sound, to which the legendary local hip-hop band “Texta”, which is artistically involved in this project, will also contribute...

Annie Breuer, a single mother in her mid-thirties, has better and worse days. On the better days she is clearly the best mommy in the world for her two children. But on the worse days a dark shadow falls over her soul. When it almost seems as if Annie simply can't cope with life's various hurdles, she suddenly receives help from an unexpected source - and two old proverbs come true. Firstly: Humor is the button that can prevent us from bursting our collars. And secondly: It takes a whole village (in this case an old Viennese apartment building with a motley crew of residents) to raise a child (or two)...
A warm-hearted and at the same time rather quirky comedy about all kinds of people you'd like to have as neighbors…even if you'd sometimes rather shoot some of them straight to the moon..
Written and directed by Rupert Henning
Cast: Martina Ebm, Neda Rahmanian, Safira Robens, Rainer Egger, Hanno Koffler, Marcel Mohab and many more
A production by WHee Film and Gebhardt Productions for ORF and MDR
